i love my job. i'm sure i don't say that nearly enough. although i hear snippets of tales of what's going on in my ex-workplace, i don't miss it. not one bit.

sometimes, i do wish i did something else. or really, something that was more recognized, or socially acceptable or something. the guys i work for have sales support out the ass. me, the lowly office manager, has virtually zilch. yes, i can call our supervisory office and pick brains there, but i always feel like they're humoring me, like i should know all this already. The guys have all these meetings and seminars and conferences and training, yet i've got pretty much NO way of picking brains and swapping ideas with other admin goddesses. doesn't seem fair to me. occasionally, if i've had a particular issue with excel or word, i can bounce it off a list or a friend or two, but general running-the-office stuff, i'm on my own.

it doesn't seem fair. we women should be encouraged to share ideas and tips and vent frustrations and such ... i've come up with some great ideas, and i know other people have, too.

I don't think I've ever heard you say that. Cool -- I'm glad you finally got out of the DOH (dysfunctional office from hell).

As for the admin social/professional group, why don't you start one? Admins at larger companies are going to have each other to turn to -- but there are a lot of small businesses out there who only have one person doing all the administrative stuff. You might start by trying to network with the admins of companies who do something similar, other small insurance cos. There have got to be more folks in the dayton area that feel exactly the way you do. And I'd be willing to bet there are yahoo groups for admins as well.
