WD-40 and a bottle of whiskey

saw the doc about my knees today. freaked out the nurse who took my vitals, so much that she had to bring the other nurses in to hear them. doc took a long time to get in to see me, but she was in with someone who needed me a little bit worse (i instantly forgave her when she said she had to tell a patient she had metastic cancer...). i know i've taken up a lot of her time in the past when needed, so it all works out.

doc said it sounds like cartilidge on the inside of my kneecaps rubbing. i think it feels like bone on bone. she had them take blood to test for rheumatoid arthritis (family history of both kinds), gave me an anti-inflammatory, and set me up with an orthopedic dr for two weeks out. she also said if walking hurts, don't do it til i see the orthopedic dr.

My doc told me what some of the various treatment options might be, including joint replacement. she thought she'd scare me with that, but i surprised her by saying i'd welcome the relief from the pain!

Knee replacements have come a long away, I've heard good things about them. Hopefully you won't go that far...

she said it'd be a last resort, that they don't like to do joint replacement on people as young as me. she said the goal is to get as much use out of my own joints as we can. the replacements wear out, too, i guess. honestly, i'd welcome that kind of surgery if it means i can walk long distances and climb stairs without pain.

I have that, too. Unfortunately I have been "ignoring" it for a long time now. I was supposed to see a specialist after Avery was born (he's 2 now) but I didn't go because I was afraid they would want to do surgery. Let me know how it all works out for you!!!
