herbicidal maniac

i think i've killed my mom's spider plant. it seemed so cramped in that small pot, so i decided to divide him up. There were four plants crammed into that one pot, so i split him in half my removing him from the pot, then swishing the seriously root-bound roots in water until i could separate them. i put each half in a new pot with fresh potting soil, then watered it really good. i think i over-wateredit.

i've killed a couple other plants in the last year, too. stuff that came in planters, alongside the peace lily. i just can't keep it alive! i water it, and it seems to rot out at the soil. i guess not all plants are as thirsty as me. the peace lilies, fortunately, are hard to kill. when the need water, they get droopy, thus asking for a drink, and recouperate very well.

i do have a baby off the spider plant that i'm trying to sprout. if i end up killing momma plant, i'll give baby a shot. i hope it doesn't come to that! i'd feel horrible if i killed the only houseplant of mom's that i took!

damn right i'm hot!

my coworkers think i'm weird: i haven't turned on my A/C yet. i don't see the point, not yet anway.

• first off, it's not that hot. it 90 today. i can handle that.


• tomorrow it will be warmer and more humid, but it'll be cooling off by thursday, so i can't justify cranking on the A/C only to shut it off in two days.


• i' get pretty good breezes through my house, with a ceiling fan in the kitchen and a oscillating fan in the bedroom to help


• i'm cheap, and i don't like having to pay for the electricity needed to run my air


• it's good for my weight loss; if i'm hot, i'm less likely to eat (or eat a lot), and i drink lots of water to help keep cool

yes, come july or august when it's sticky hot, i'll turn it on, but i don't leave it on any longer than necessary, and i keep it up rather warm. if i'm cold in my house, the it needs to be adjusted.
