my coworkers think i'm weird: i haven't turned on my A/C yet. i don't see the point, not yet anway.

  • first off, it's not that hot. it 90 today. i can handle that.

  • tomorrow it will be warmer and more humid, but it'll be cooling off by thursday, so i can't justify cranking on the A/C only to shut it off in two days.

  • i' get pretty good breezes through my house, with a ceiling fan in the kitchen and a oscillating fan in the bedroom to help

  • i'm cheap, and i don't like having to pay for the electricity needed to run my air

  • it's good for my weight loss; if i'm hot, i'm less likely to eat (or eat a lot), and i drink lots of water to help keep cool

yes, come july or august when it's sticky hot, i'll turn it on, but i don't leave it on any longer than necessary, and i keep it up rather warm. if i'm cold in my house, the it needs to be adjusted.

I'll resist the obvious pun implied by your subject line.

And way to go for resisting the a/c! I've got mine cranked, I'm afraid, but I've also got all windows closed, due to SEVERE hay-fever this year. Not only are you saving yourself money, you're saving precious resources of the earth! You didn't even know you were being an environmentalist.

Very admirable of you! Unfortunatel, I'm a heat-wuss, and Mike is absolutely heat-intolerant. We have our air-conditioning on the minute the external temperature surpasses the comfortable temperature inside the house. I *hate* to be hot, and Mike physically can't stand it. However, we don't mind cold nearly so much; we rather like it. We use our heat sparingly - we never turned it on when we lived in apartments - the passive heat from the rest of the building was enough - now we use it because we have a bigger house, but the electric company keeps dropping our bills since we use so much less electricity than the previous owners.

Damn! *sigh* oh, well. i tried! :-)

You didn't even know you were being an environmentalist.

actually, environmental concerns is another reason, i jsut forgot to list it. and the NOISE pollution 'round here ... i sat outside for a bit last night, and all i could hear was A/Cs running, cars on the highway, and those obnoxiously loud car stereos.

if i was a smart woman, i'd have turned my air on by now... i'm not doing my allergies any favors. i've been hitting the tissues, eyedrops, and benadryl kinda hard lately.

Yeah, I'm totally living on tylenol alergy relief, and my eyedrops & tissues are never far from hand ... still, I look like I've been beat up most days, 'cause my eyes are so red and swollen!! Maybe that's why Rondo left town -- he's tired of the "wifebeater" looks!!

I'd rather open the window and not use the A/C myself, but Mark has allergies. It's frustrating.

Besides it is your place, and if you are comfortable do what you want :)
