Apr. 20th, 2003 09:03 pmfor some goofy reason, when i go to the my LJ "friends" site, it automatically goes back to old entries. i have to hit "refresh" 2 or 3 times to get it to update to current posts. Very annoying, and i haven't the foggiest idea how to fix it. doesn't seem to happen with any other website.

spent about 3 hrs w/the family for Easter. got there as they were cleaning up from dinner, so i was spared any of the "are you SURE you don't want some....?" crap. Douglas liked his Easter basket from me, especially the Corvette Stingray and Lambraghini matchbox cars. The pen and notebook were a hit, too.

Dad's house is 99.9% cleaned out; all that's left is the lawnmower. i'm still torn about going to visit, but we joked that we should take a picture of the cleaned-out garage, since THAT will never happen again! ;-)

Thanks to the clean-out and Diane's memory, i'm now the proud owner of one home-made wedding dress (circa 1969) and one rainbow-striped sleeveless homemade maternity dress (circa 1971). both are VERY short, but were probably a tad longer on mom (she was about 5'3", i'm 5'8"). the maternity dress might fit me, but the wedding dress never will without serious alterations. i'll keep the dress intact for a while, but i can see ripping it apart for quilt-pieces down the road.

nice storms tonight turned the sky a funky shade of greenish-yellow. Sam did OK with the thunder and lightening. i think he's more curious about the strange smells in the air. sometimes i wish i had his keen sense of smell.

i've got some pretty serious house-envy going on. searched for houses nearby me, and found a handful of two-story condo/townhouse things w/garages for about $70k. not bad, but they lack basements. There's lots of the tiny shoebox houses for sale (do-able if they have basements), but i found the best in terms of size for $125k ~ 4 bedrooms, 2.5 baths, walkout basement ... probably bigger than dad's house. not the style of house i'd want, but definitely the size. i almost have myself talked into calling the realtor, then reality hits and i remember that in the real world, maintenance and heat aren't included in the price of the rent. *sigh* i'm not saying "never," i'm just saying "not now." i'll keep stashing my money away, and hope by 35 i'll be able to do it. i'll have to do something...i've got too many things on hold.
