Heading to Dr E's (rheumatologist) in a bit for a cortisone shot. his nurse returned my frantic call from friday, and this is what he recommends until he knows what our plan of attack will be. I told them i got the vicodin from my other doc, but dr E doesn't want me on anything that powerful. i told her it knocks me out, so that's fine.

i've never had a cortisone shot, so i have no idea what to expect. i've heard that they hurt like hell, and that there's limited number of shots one can have at any give site.

my dad's oldest sister popped into the office for me to copy some things for her (we're helping her out), and i told her what's going on. i'm curious how long before it spreads to the rest of the family?

took 1/2 a vicodin last night, and slept for 10 hours. i don't feel too hung over today, which is good. mental clarity is a Very Good Thing. :-)

Thanks! it turned out to be not that bad. it hurt the way shots do, but not anythign i can't handle. that spot's a little sore today, but it's not bruised or anything.

Any idea how long this should last?

The soreness shouldn't last more than a few days, but if you tend to be a more tender person it could be up to a week. If you can get your hands on some arnica ointment, that would really help. Another thing that really helps is red pepper. You can get a soap that contains red pepper and is formulated for muscle and joint pain from Old Thyme Herbs. http://www.oldthymeherbs.com

Take care and be kind to yourself
